Modern Prairie House Plans

Originating in the designs of iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the low-slung Modern Prairie style emphasizes the sweep of horizontal lines and open-concept living.

Modern Prairie homes are often carefully designed to blend in with their surroundings, creating a natural, organic feel. Roofs are generally flat or hipped, with a nod to mid-century modern aesthetics, also influenced by Wright.

Modern Prairie homes often feature an elevated entrance which leads into a central great room. Small rows of windows let in plenty of natural light, illuminating the openness of the interior spaces. Rich wood finishes add warmth to the interior and functionality is enhanced through built-in elements. Additional natural materials, including stone and brick, anchor the home in its natural setting, and the indoors and outdoors often combine through integrated exterior living spaces.
