Modern House Plans

While often referred to interchangeably with Contemporary architecture, Modern home styles are rooted in the early 20th-century Machine Age. Here you’ll find an emphasis on minimalist design with materials including glass, metal, and concrete.

Open-concept floorplans, clean geometric lines, including flat roofs, and a rejection of the overly ornate styles of the past are among the hallmarks of modern architecture.

Because of their use of natural materials, modern styles are designed to blend seamlessly with their natural setting, and their placement within the lot is often of paramount importance. Though often considered stark and cold, they are warmed by the use of stone, hardwoods, and other natural materials. Furnishings are typically informed by mid-century Modern styles and share the minimalism of the home’s design aesthetic.
