How It Works
Whether you’re an experienced builder or it’s your first time designing a home, we make it a seamless experience from start to finish with our signature six-step design session.

Meet Your Designer
Like all great relationships, every project begins with a conversation. You meet with one of our lead designers in-person, virtually, or over the phone. During this discussion, we listen, ask questions, and get a full understanding of your needs, the styles you like and admire, budget, and day-to-day lifestyle. This information is the foundation for your future custom home design.

Gather Site Information
You provide accurate size information to our team, including boundaries, lot size, pertinent views, and elevation changes.

Receive Your Preliminary Design
We complete a hand-drawn preliminary design with detailed floor plans and front elevation and meet with you to discuss and review. All feedback is welcome during this step as we get closer to seeing your design take shape.

Make Any Additional Revisions
Before we complete your custom house plan, we review your preliminary design and use this time to fine-tune any changes to make before proceeding to full construction documents.

Review Your Construction Documents
After the plan is approved, our team will develop complete construction documents, which is everything you need to get accurate estimates and start building. If you’re an individual homeowner, give these documents to your builder, so that they can get accurate estimates regarding cost and construction time frames.

Finalize Your Plan
The final step is to make any required modifications. We recommend that if you’re an individual homeowner that you give your plans to your preferred builder and get cost estimates before requesting changes. At BDG, one round of revisions is calculated into our design fee. Additional modifications beyond that will be billed at our hourly rate.
